Difficulty Weaning From Cardiopulmonary Bypass Following an Aortic Valve Replacement
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aortic valve replacement (AVR) remains the treatment of choice for severe aortic stenosis. Despite growing number transcatheter AVR (TAVR) in younger and intermediate-to-low-risk patients, surgical (SAVR) is widely used retains low operative mortality, rate complications, predictable long-term durability. Although it a straightforward procedure, on some occasions, surgeon could face challenging situations, such as compromised coronary flow an inability to wean patient from cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Our required concomitant artery grafting overcome biventricular failure facilitate successful weaning CPB.

متن کاملDifficulty Weaning Off Cardiopulmonary Bypass: Role of Diabetes-Associated Cardiomyopathy
Diabetes mellitus is a progressive systemic disease that adversely affects cardiovascular function. Diabetesassociated cardiovascular changes are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Clinical trials indicate that diabetes accelerates and worsens the prognosis of coronary atherosclerosis, is associated with a 3-fold increase in the incidence of heart failure and that it is indepen...
متن کاملTranscatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Review Article
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a novel therapeutic intervention for the replacement of severely stenotic aortic valves in high-risk patients for standard surgical procedures. Since the initial PARTNER trial results, use of TAVR has been on the rise each year. New delivery methods and different valves have been developed and modified in order to promote the minimally invasive p...
متن کاملWeaning from cardiopulmonary bypass: problems and remedies.
W a patient from cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is an important step of surgical procedures. It requires the anaesthesiologist to apply the basic principles of cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology. The goal is a smooth transition from the mechanical pump back to the heart as the source of blood flow. Weaning off CPB should always be conducted in a coordinated fashion. The surgeon directs th...
متن کاملAortic valve replacement with minimal extracorporeal circulation versus standard cardiopulmonary bypass.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and the clinical outcomes of aortic valve replacement (AVR) performed with minimally invasive extracorporeal circulation (miniECC) technique vs. standard cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). From February 2006 to December 2007 a total of 181 isolated AVR were performed, of these 53 patients were operated using minimal extracorporeal circulation syst...
